Geothermal Heat Pumps
Geothermal Heat Pumps (GHPs) are a unique source of solar power, and there have been some huge advances in Geothermal Heat Pump Technology in recent years, making it one the best green investments available. Consider these GHP facts:
• There are huge tax credits available for GHPs: 30% back from federal and 35% back from NC.
• GHPs are initially more expensive than traditional systems, but much less expensive to run and maintain.
• GHP payback is about 4 years.
• GHPs are a form of solar energy: the sun heats the ground and GHPs harvests this heat.
• With new drilling techniques, GHPs can be located on almost any lot.
• With a GHP there is no outdoor unit. This reduces noise and improves yard appearance.
• GHPs provide heat and AC.
Solar Hot Water
RTP Solar has a value oriented Solar Hot Water package. We charge less because we use local products and standard components.
We feature solar components from SolarHot - a local company from Morrisville. SolarHot is officially recognized as providing the Most Efficient Solar Hot Water systems in America. RTP Solar is an official installer of SolarHot systems. We invite our customers to review the technical specifications of our systems on the SolarHot pages: www.solarhotusa.com. All solar hot water installations are performed by licensed NC Plumbers.
Photovoltaic - Electricity from the Sun
RTP Solar is now working United Renewable Energy: the largest installer of Photovoltaics in the state of Georgia! We offer solar installation packages with value pricing, coupled with a team of experienced installers. Customers may want to review the United Renewable website at www.u-renew.com, but NC customers should contact RTP Solar directly for NC installations. All photovoltaic installations are performed by licensed NC Electricians.
Energy Efficiency and Weatherization
More than fifty percent of the energy used in average homes goes towards heating and cooling. Much of that energy is wasted -- through penetration, HVAC leakage, and inadequate insulation. RTP Solar now offers energy audits and weatherization repairs to remedy these problems.
Community Involvement and Training
RTP Solar is partnering with the sustainable businesses and community organizations located on the Green Oil Campus, on Angier Avenue in Durham. Programs are being established to train area youth to be part of the green-collar workforce. RTP Solar has purchased 17 used hot water panels that will be used in training programs, demonstration projects, and to provide process heat for the production of biodiesel fuel.
